Query on using textures

Hi all

Had my 1st play using a texture on an image by following a Digital Photo mag tutorial .
When I imported the texture it was the same size on screen as the original image but when I went to overlay it it was much smaller so only covered the central bit of the original image...if that makes sense ? tried enlarging it but the same thing happened when trying to overlay it . So effectively the texture only covered 75% of the image

I strongly suspect there's pilot error going on here somewhere but not sure how to get it right....can someone point out the error of my ways please ?

If you try edit/transform (or CTRL+T) you should with the move tool be able to drag the smaller image to cover the background, then hit return.
