Fantastic, just fantastic, a very talented young man. The photos really caught the atmosphere of what it must be like to live there and the mini biographies are brilliant. I especially stunned by the blasé attitude to the suicides. ' and the head is rolling around the bins' Sometimes we don't realise how lucky we are!

This guy is raw talent. If he's hungry enough for it, and he keeps this up, you'll be hearing more from him I'm sure... so will Magnum probably.

He's actually a mature student, but I'm sure he'll thank you for calling him a young man :)

Wow, that's very good. I had to look up
A dystopia is an imaginary community or society that is undesirable or frightening. It is literally translated as "not-good place", an antonym of utopia.

Does he live there, documenting his environment?

Nope... he's a local guy though... knows it well.

Really enjoyed that. Excellent work Stephen!

Good stuff. He deserves to get some wider recognition for this work

That's a strong set of images in the classical social documentary style. Part of me initally thought that there were maybe some visual cliches in there, but on reflection I guess that's more to do with the subject matter (ie. the environment and the people) than the photographer? It looks like he gained the trust of the community and built a rapport with them, which will be good practice for when he's somewhere less local and less familiar.

Thanks for the link. A very impressive project, really powerful and moving. Hope to see some more from him in the future.

The link appears to just be going to the lens culture home page. Has the article been taken down?
