I had a bit of an accident a couple of days ago and took a small chip out of the edge of one of the kitchen worktops, I wouldn't mind, but it was only installed in July last year.

I have had one quote, 190£. Does anyone have any experience in this kind of repair, or could recommend a company in the south Lincolnshire area.

I would be quite happy to have a go at doing it myself, if I could find the right repair kit, but my wife isn't too happy about that.:)

See if any local independent kitchen fitters fit these work tops - if so, they maybe able to sell you a repair kit or do a repair for you in between jobs ???
Hope you get it sorted.

Another thought - do you have any suppliers / manufacturers of this nearby ? They may do a kit they could sell you - you might not get anywhere as they maybe trade only, but it's certainly worth a call / visit ...

I had someone come & fill in a heavy scratch on a wooden worktop a few years ago. They had a large box of colour fill in sticks, waxes etc. He spent a few hours working on it & did a very good job (couldn't see it). I was happy with the job + he charged £100 + vat. I know it was not cheap but I would have spent thousands replacing it all.
Therefore the price you have been quoted is not cheap but if it saves you replacing all the work top then its cheap but remember to practice plate juggling outside in the future. :)

Thanks guys for your replies. Had it been a timber worktop, it wouldn't be a problem for me to repair, I was a joiner in a previous life.

The whole Kitchen was supplied by Magnet, including the worktops. I fitted the units and the worktops were fitted by a company from London. They made a superb job with everything looking perfect on completion.

I emailed them on Wednesday and asked if they would be prepared to travel to south Lincolnshire to carry out a repair, but have had no reply so far. I know they fit all of Magnet's stone/quartz worktops in the Peterborough area, so will wait and see what happens.
