so, here's the thing

One of my 1d mk2 needs a replacement shutter which i guess will cost £300+ all told, and the camera is only worth about £700, plus the camera needs a service anyway

So should I get it repaired, or buy a replacement 1d mk2 for about the same total cost, or should I spend £1500 and buy a 5d mk2 ?

with the 5d i'll get a significant tech upgrade, but spend more, but its only a single card camera and I like the 1D because of the dual cards which make me feel safe

thoughts?

My main camera is a 1d mk4 and the replacement will be used mostly by my second shooters

make the decision based on business needs (for you). The most sensible seems to be to stick with the 1d mk 2 on that basis

Aside - don't you insist 2nds provide their own kit?

i know what you're saying but then again the 5d will give better performance in dark churches compared to the mk2 which really struggles

Aside - don't you insist 2nds provide their own kit?

maybe I should but I like to know they have decent equipment plus this way I can have people that have a good eye rather than people with good equipment

fair point - I always work on the theory that if they are serious about second shooting then they'll have both though (the eye being more important)

i know what you mean but my second shooters aren't that rich and so if i can afford the gear i'd rather have it than restrict myself or punish them for not being as well off as they'd like to be
