Hi,

I am about to start putting together my portfolio for uni next year and I am getting myself confused about lighting. I will probably be renting a studio for portraits but would quite like a small light for capturing objects myself. Could anyone recommend a decent (cheap!) light to buy? Or any other suggestions on where to look or what to look for?

Also any other hints about portfolio's would be most welcome!!

Thanks in advance

what sort of things are you planning on photographing?

A diy light box will give great results if the images posted on here are anything to go by.

Re the portfolio, that again depends on the type of things you want to capture.

If you dont want to make your own asda do one for just under £20

Are you after flash (slave) units or what? I'd suggest looking on eBay as they have some really inexpensive great lighting kits...some for like 50-GBP (low watts). Can find just about anything on eBay...cheap! xxxx
