Hi guys,

I want to shoot some Delta 400 tonight at at least 800, probably 1600 or upwards. It's 6x9, so grain won't be a massive problem, I hope.

I got a job lot of chemicals on ebay a while back, I have plenty of kodak D-76, as well as a few packets of Promicrol. Which of these two is most suitable for pushing said film?
Off topic: I think the rest the developers I bought are out of date (Acutol, Aculux), as they have turned a very dark brown, despite being sealed, anyone know what to do with them? Can I try them out without destroying a film?
Thanks, Nick

Dev a test strip from a roll of 35mm. If it works it should clear the film leaving the writing by the sprocket holes?

Drop a clip of film in the some of developer solution and stir it about. If it turns black in the sort of time you'd expect it to develop the film, it's probably ok.

Testing fix turns the negative clear.

You can do either of these tests in light (but you won't see any writing by the sprocket holes if you do it in light). But the test will only prove that the chemicals are still active - not perform exactly the same as factory fresh.

Thanks for the correction!
