I like shooting at 3200 a single I usually like low light plus I can use the same film in the day and evening. I used ilford delta 3200 but it's £7 a roll. Hp5 is £5 from ilford, can also buy more rolls at once that delta. I've only seen a couple of photos of hp5 pushed to 3200, does it work well pushed that far?
 
Just checked amazon and delta is actually £8 a roll and hp5 is £5.50
 
Some have pushed Agfa Vista for £1 roll but don't think to 3200 ISO though...and you can have colour or convert to B\W
 
I'm happy to spend the money on hp5 providing it pushes ok, if not I'd get delta for 3200 then hp5 for everything else. I'm only really interested in black and white, I do have 3 rolls of Agfa vista coming but probably won't use it that often
 
Ag Photographic have the prices for HP5 as just under £5 and Delta at just under £7 - although I don't know what postage adds.

I've pushed HP5 Plus one stop and pulled Delta 3200 one stop and been happy with the results, I hear that many people use HP5 Plus as their go to film these days but not sure about 3200.

Used to push HP5 and Tri-X to 1600. Did so for 2 reasons - low light and golf ball grain! Can't remember what developer I used to use - possibly Ilford Universal (because it was cheap and meant I only had to buy one set of soups for film and prints) - but there are almost certainly better compounds/mixtures to reduce grain size. Used to use Ilford XP1 for finer grain but that was in its very early days - XP2 is apparently even finer. XP2 is a B&W C41 film.
 
I shoot HP5 at 1600 with good results, I do use Ilfotec DD-X to develop it though rather than my usual Ilfotec LC29 for box spped black and white films
 
I've shot it at 1600 too but I'm just concerned with shooting it at 3200 at the moment
 
That Tri-X is impressive at 3200. Lomography shop tend to have Tri-X at £4 a roll I've found. They also had delta 3200 at that price as well. They don't at the moment but it is worth checking and they often have discount offers.
 
That's cool, they look good. Might have to try a roll.
Kind of in the same vein, where can I get tri x developed? Is there anywhere in the high street that will do it? I tried snappy snaps for the delta 3200 and they said they would have to send it away and it would take 2 weeks...stupid. The only place i know of is ilford itself, don't know if they do other brands

High street developing for traditional b&w is a bit more tricky unless you live near to one of the recommended companies in the above list. The current favourite seems to be Filmdev, their turn around time is excellent and you can chose what sort of scan you want, you can nearly get to download your pics within 24 hours of posting which is pretty impressive.

Depending on where you live there maybe somewhere local that you can just drop into although pretty much all the standard High Street outlets Boots, Asda etc will send away traditional B&w films although some SnappySnaps franchises will process on site but they are all different so you'll have to check.

Keep in mind that it will cost you more to get the HP5 or Tri-X developed at 3200 because you will need to get them pushed three stops in development, so any cost savings over Delta 3200 could be wiped out if you are not developing yourself.

Filmdev push up to 3 stops for no extra money. Which is nice.
