Hi all,
Would like to ask if you know what can cause purple and green lines around edges of a photo when you start to try and fix it in Lightroom.

Having a few practice shots today with garden birds but on some when I increase the exposure I get weird lines around the branches of the tree branches the bird is sitting on?

Not that I have any pics I want to save as they were just for practice but did wonder what caused the colours.

Lightroom 4 is very good at removing it, not bad at purple fringing either.

Scroll down the menus in LR and if your lens is listed, and a heck of a lot of them are, then it's single click to remove CA, and just one more click to fix vignetting and distortion too

Thank you Phil and Richard at least now I know the name of the problem and how to deal with it. I was using my Tamron zoom today so I will check it out in lightroom

Cathy, do you have a book to go with your Lightroom? I wouldn't have more than scratched the surface without one - suggest Scott Kelby. The basic stuff is intuitive enough in LR, but there's massively more capability when you go a bit deeper, and none of it is difficult - you just have to know what's there, where to find it, and which buttons to press :)

Richard I have Lightroom 3 and now have a copy of Scot Kelbys book from e bay but it is for LIghtroom 2 .

I am sure there is not a huge difference and it will do until I get an up to date copy and will keep looking.
it only cost me a pound so not bad!

LOL That was a pound well spent, but there were big changes with LR3, and a few more tweaks with LR4. LR4 is best at CA removal.

Hi Cathy
I have the Scott Kelby Lightroom 3 book you can have (just want postage costs), as I've just bought the Lightroom 4 book. Only condition is that ifyou pass it on you do likewise as me.
