About to take the plunge on a new body and looking for some opinions please.

I would describe myself as an enthusiastic amateur, and take a wide variety of images (family, some landscapes and a bit of architecture). I currently have a Nikon D3100 paired with a 35mm f1.8G prime (which I tend to use the majority of the time).

I am looking at the D7xxx range and at about a £700-£800 budget. So am I better off getting a new D7100 or a good used D7200? Is there much difference? I have played with the D7100 in store and liked the feel of it.

I know for this budget I could go full-frame used but I am put off by the size/weight.

Thanks

The big question has to be - what is your current camera not doing that you think the newer one will?

It may be you'll see an IQ improvement by spending the money on lenses rather than a body - just a thought.

Good question. My daughter is about to go into GCSE Photography and I have decided this is a good excuse to give her the D3100 (with kit lens). Great for her to start with. GIves me the excuse to upgrade. So looking at my budget I decided on 7xxx.

Not used the grey market before, assuming they are good to deal with?

Panamoz I've personally used twice , excellent customer service etc, hdew I've not used but heard good things also

The d7100 apparently can show banding when bringing up the shadows though I've never used, going in Thom Hogan's review, this isn't showing up in the d7200

Fair enough then, from what you describe, I'd go for the D7100 and keep the extra cash

I'm looking at purchasing a Fujifilm X100F from Panamoz. Could I please confirm that when you made your two purchases there were no customs or duties that had to be paid upon receipt?

Ask Panamoz, I'm sure they will comfirm. Otherwise just hope you are not caught defrauding HMRC. See see several other posts on this subject and the way it divides opinIon.

Read a few Trustpilot reviews, a few customers say if you get hit by customs and duties, send Panamoz the invoice and they will pay for it. Everyone's a winner.
