Has anyone purchased a phone through www.mobiles.co.uk?

I ask as they have a reasonable deal on an iPhone that I am looking at, I just want to know if the contract quoted can change at all in the 24 month period?

I don't think they can but as I have just asked for my PAC code from my current provider, they said that they can change it and they will! Not sure if this is scare mongering or not :-)

Many thanks for any help

they're not an actual provider though are they, just a shop like CPWH? i dont think they can change anything that would lead to additional charges, im sure ofcom would have something to say about that. but im sure they can change some bits with some warning and allowing you time to cancel etc.

they don't look the best anyway, why not just go to one of the big names.

Thanks for replying Neil, there is a difference of approx £15 a month for 24 months if I go direct to O2. Mobiles.co.uk are also part of the CPWH/Dixons group which is why I thought they may be reasonable.

As they say, if it looks too good, it probably is!

We were previously with 3 and they did increase the cost whilst we were in contract - was only a small increase, but an increase none the less - not happy they did, they took no notice of my calls etc etc, so we voted with our feet and walked away as soon as the contract ended...

Could be worth asking them directly or trying to read there T&C to see if it mentions it...

I almost bought from mobiles.co.uk earlier in the year. I'd placed order then got rejected as I 'failed' a credit check. Chased them up and it was actually that I owed o2 £20 as I was coming out of my existing contract one month early even though I was staying with o2. They were completely useless and hard to get hold of. Oh, 2 days later I got a text/email saying they had been hacked and my personal details had been compromised!

Clearly, I just renewed with o2. CPWH and the Dixon's group make an ideal match - both next to useless at customer service.

I've not used this company but my present mobile contract I bought through www.directmobiles.co.uk I was a bit apprehensive as I've normally gone direct with the Network company. I have to say the service was smooth and efficient and the contract was cheaper than anywhere else. As a bonus I went through Topcashback and earned £36

Check the small print. I think they can usually within a certain %. Only ever had it happen once iirc it increased less than 50p. Any more and you can get out of the contract foc. Again check small print.

weird ive been with 3 for about 5 years now and never had any changes without warning.

i know they withdrew certain plans due to people taking the pee with tethering.

I think it was Three not accurately forecasting customer usage, rather than customers taking the pee. The contract offered was unlimited data with tethering, if somebody chose to stream HD video 24/7, I don't see why that is taking the pee - the headline of the sales offering was after all 'unlimited data'. Thankfully i'm still on that package - £18 for a few thousand minutes and a few thousand texts with unlimited data is a package I can't seem to get with any other carrier at a reasonable price.

Not in this case for a comparable tariff with Tesco mobile :-)

Not in this case for a comparable tariff with Tesco mobile :)

I pay 13.99 a month. The closet Tesco tariff to mine would cost 25.00 a month, and still falls short of the data allowance and doesn't give me the inclusive overseas usage either.

I got my iPhone 6 from them last year...sorry, earlier this year :p
Paid £100 upfront for the handset and then £23.49 a month for 2 years on EE.

Best deal I could find tbh.

If I'm not mistaken I *may* have used them when buying my iPhone 5 2 years earlier, can't remember though.

BTW I paid the upfront cost to mobiles.co.uk, all resulting bills come straight from EE and I log into my EE account and pay them.
I haven't had any dealings with mobiles.co.uk at all beyond the initial purchase.

@Marcel did your monthly charge change at all during the period and did you deal with mobiles.co.uk to cancel the original contract?

Apologies, I've just searched my docs and the iphone 5 was purchased through E2Save and was on O2.
I just contacted them for the PAC code when I bought the iPhone 6 from mobiles.co.uk/EE.
I'm still in that 2 years. Charges have not changed at all.

Not sure if it's still available, but Vodafone were doing Unltd minutes/texts 2gb data, Unltd for first 3mths, for £5.50. Cashback deal, sim only.

The best deal is got by buying your phone then taking a SIM only deal.
Not always. Take your 13.99 per month then add 25.79 for the phone when bought outright. That is £39 ish. About £5 more per month than the deal from the op, not taking into account the lost interest on the initial capital outlay, therefore the difference being slightly larger.

Eh? Where does 25.79 a month come from? I pay nothing a month for my phone, so don't pay 5 more per month that the deal mentioned. I pay 13.99 a month.

Well you would pay that if you bought an iPhone six to make an equivalent deal like the op ;) if you are not then it is a rather pointless comparison.

people were using it as their home internet and streaming/transferring TBs of data. tell me thats not taking the pee.

Personally, if somebody used a device that was advertised as offering unlimited data, then no, I don't think that would be taking the pee. If 3 didn't want users to transfer more than 10gb, or 100gb, then that should be the advertised limit. However, they didn't, they said unlimited.
