I need to invest in a new computer to replace my old HP desktop. I've been looking at the Punch Technology website at their Best Value Photography Computer which I think will fulfil my needs. Has anyone any experience with Punch Technology?

No experience personally with PT. What's your budget and what do you want it to do?

I can remember storing BASIC programmes on punched paper tape at college in 1978, if that helps ;)
In the 1980s I was assigned a desk and in one of the drawers there was a manual 7 hole tape punch. Beautiful gadget but the only way I could try it out was to slice up a sheet of green lined printer paper.

In the mid 70's I studied computer technology at school. We had to write our BASIC programs and then encode them onto punched tape. Twice a week the school would get a 30min slot on the Croydon Council computer and were able to run our programs from the tapes we had created. Debugging didn't really happen.

I don't know Punch Technology, but that seems a decent spec of PC. How tied to Windows are you? You could get a Mac Mini M4 and a 2TB drive for less than the £899 of the Punch machine...
I use an M1 Mac Mini and it handles everything I throw at it, both for photography and music. The new M4 version won't even break a sweat.

I bought my last windows computer from them, I have switched to Mac now.

Everything was great when purchasing but I wasn't overly impressed with either the build time or level of service after I had purchased from them. I spent about 4k at the time so thought for the price I paid I would receive better service. The P.C itself was grand and they did a good job of things like cable management etc.

The build time took a lot longer than expected and although when I bought I explained I needed it in a hurry and they promised that everything was in stock ready to go after buying it was one excuse after another and as it turned out half of the stuff I had originally wanted was not in stock after all. This meant having to change a lot of stuff and left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth tbh. From memory they told me it would be delivered in a week but it ended up taking more like 3/4 weeks.

I can't help but feel they mislead me around the e.t.a. I desperately needed it at the time in a hurry so was pretty disappointed.

Apologies for interrupting your thread Ian.
That’s interesting Kerry. I’m thinking of switching to a Mac. I assume I could use my existing screen and keyboard?

Yes, although the first time you set the Mac up you'll need a wired keyboard as it won't be connected to a Bluetooth one.

EDIT: actually you'll probably need a new keyboard, because Apple have a few different keys and some of the symbols are in different places. After I'd done the initial setup I bought a Jellycomb Bluetooth one from Amazon, it was about £15 I think.

I bought my last PC (~2 years ago) from them and everything was fine, it took around a week to be delivered and not had any issues since.

They must have been recommended on here a lot at the time as I hadn't heard of them until I did some searches.

Thanks for the comments. I've bitten the buĺlet and ordered. They've said 7 - 10 days.
