Morning all,

Just a quick question

Paid invoice/accreditation, I covered a game at the weekend which sees my pictures appear in 4 different papers with 2 paid invoices (1 invoice covered 3 papers)

now with football league licenses does this count as one paid publication or 3 as they are different papers?

just curious really, still got a way to go but wondered if I now stand on 2 or 4

cheers

As you will need the invoices to prove usage it will depend what you have on the invoice, does it have the 3 separate usages on the one invoice?

The criteria is.. it has to be a regional publication and not local... so long as you ahve an invoice for X pics and the price is standard and you can show the pics published then they all count.. but only match action not crowd pics or anyhting pre or post game

so if you got 6 pics published in three regional papers and one invoice.. all 6 will count..

Thats good to know

So far its 3 images in two regionals, possibly another when the even papers come out aswell

Invoice was for image submission (12 images) for use across three papers (I didn't put that part on invoice)

Thanks for clearing things up though. Invoice already submitted but I know for next time

as the subject says publications/accrediation I am guessing to go towards a licence.. trouble is you have 12 mths to get them and your starting late in the season.. if you start now you ahve a few months missing over summer leaving you with little time to make it up to 15... if you start at the beggining of a season you ahve more time..

plus you aplly for that seasons licence so if it takes a while you then have to get another 15 for following season... its a pain :(

Thanks

Its not so much for this season or even next to be honest. Just something I was looking at for future, just wondered where I would stand working with one person that covered 2/3 papers

I think I would struggle to get the full 15 in 12 months to be honest but you never know

cant hurt to try:) But my advice if you do would be to start at the start of a season.. gives you a full season to get the 15.. if your lucky and your club is succesful.. good cup runs top of league then you ahve a chance.. if your club is doing poor then who wants the pics... so tell the club to win :)

15 wins on the bounce at present, Wembley trip if they dont lose on Sat

4th in the league with 5 games in hand over teams above them (win them all puts them 2nd) and in with a chance of promotion

exciting times

ya might get 15 this season at that rate :)

They are sending a staff tog along on Sat so wont get anything this week in the regionals I don't think but you never know, depends what they see/catch as I have a plan up my sleeve :D

if they win on sat they equal a 60 year club record of 16 wins on the bounce aswell, what a way for me to get into sports photography

I was at a game commisioned for my local paper.. an agency was there who sent pics in.. they used one of theres instead of mine.. I was quite insulted but realised thats what agencies do.. plus the goal scorer ran straight at him and not me so the paper used and paid for the agencies... Of course as I was on a commision I still got paid :)

I dont know what others think the moral ground is here.. is it OK?

EDIT removed question to post seperate...

I've had a couple of chats with people in the media, one editor, one sport reporter who works alongside an editor

they send staff togs but in some cases the staff may just be someone from the office who doesn't understand whats involved, sometimes sent with a brief (one picture that stands out) they can use so they may take hundreds of pictures to get one

while its ok to do that they also then have to give the staff a days time in lieu for covering the game which means they lose productivity during the week aswell as there maybe a couple of people out the office (various games in the region)

I find that quite funny that they will do that and not decide on a standard rate to pay for some games but will pay for bigger games

surely its in there best interests and even business form to just pay a standard rate to a tog who covers the game on there behalf, submitting shots before a deadline, whether its same day or next day etc
