All rather insidious if you ask me...I can't figure out why any mod would have the need to visit a page in secret.....you have a clear right to be visiting all areas of the forum so why the clandestine stuff....seems very cloak and dagger just for the sake of it.

There are many reasons that a mod (or admin) may want to check a profile.
Some mods or admin prefer to remain as "off line"
for a variety of reasons.
But I'm not quite sure where you are going with this. :shrug:
If I check a profile, I do it "as visible",
Just like I checked yours out of curiosity ;)

Oh and BTW the comment to Lynne was so she didn't feel left out,
not having a "greenie" check her profile. ;)

:eek: :lol: awww.... and he is such a gentleman, he has never mentioned whenever I asked about my JC supply being bigger than everyone elses :love:




As for 'stealth' cloak and dagger - nothing of the sort, some of us prefer to remain apparently offline just for a little peace now and then from the pm's, moans, etc [as do many normal members btw], so not going to mess around changing settings every time we visit a profile just so the person knows they have been visited, life is too short. :D

Not going anywhere merely expressing an opinion on the issues raised on the thread.

As you have said you choose to view a profile that makes sense as we are communicating via a thread......but any mod doing modish (modly?) duties surely has no need to hide the fact? I can't think of a single reason why a mod would choose to do this. You say you can so fair enough.

Actually now I think of it is moderation duties isn't it? Modish sounds better.

principally cobra likes to hide because everytime he decloaks we take the proverbial out of him :lol:

but that aside a mod might want to view a discussion from behind a tree in order to see whether it was according to the rules or not... some trolls get worse if they know they are under mod observation

you wouldn't believe that amount of forum related PM's that we receive, especially if we / I / whom ever,
are the only mod showing as on line.
Where of course the correct procedure is to hit the RTM button, for forum related issues :thumbs:

I look at peolpes profiles for a number of reasons, sometimes it's because I have fat fingers but I also tend to look at profiles of people who's pictures I like, or pictures of subjects I am trying or thinking of trying to do for inspiration (I don't know if there's a simpler way of checking out someones pictures) I also tend to look at the profile of people who critique me to see if I can return the favour.

Well, when I say I look at the profile, I really go into the profile and straight to "find threads started by ......" just to find any picture orientated threads.

Sometimes I just stalk people though :wave::naughty:
