Hey All

Some may have read in a separate thread on here that I have been engaged to take photographs at a childrens party this coming weekend. I am advised that I should now obtain public liability insurance - which I agree I now need to do - as this is a 'Pro' event per sé.

Does anyone have suggestions, experience or recommendations as to good company to approach to obtain such PLI for photographers.

Who do you use...?

i think photoguard offers it, and that comes high recommended by people on here

Thanks Rob

I looked at that site, excellent prices so it seems and I am probably going to call them up in the morning. One thing I couldn't see if it was clear was if the option I selected included cover for my gear AND public liability...??

I think it did, but will call them in the morrow.

Hi, I am with Photoguard, very good service and at a reasonable price too. I dont know what they would be like with a claim though - touch wood I never find out.

Yup - have called Photoguard to discuss their service offerings and it will definitely be these who I go with. Apparently it is cheaper to sign up online too... so that's what I am gonna do before I go out on my 1st 'pro' job on the weekend :)

I was with my car insurance broker for my PLI but I've insured my camera gear (£10k) with E & L (www.eandl.co.uk) and it's cost £211 inc £1.5 mil cover per claim.

Just had a look on photoguard.

I am interested on insuring my gear, really for when I go on holiday. It's qutie easy to fall and break some gear also a lot of the hire cars have no parcel shelf so even though it's 'only a bag' to the casual thief worth a bit.

Got my stuff at a good price so seems worth it to insure I figure.

D40
18-55
55-200 lenses with hoya pro uv filters
Hoya CPol filter
Orion Trekker II bag
4 & 1 gb sd cards
cleaning equipment

Reckon its worth around £500-£600 ish.

Sorry to hijack your post but didn't think it was worth starting another!

Hi Jigga

Well, I have a sum of £2000 for equipment, and £1M PLI for £90 per year...

Seems like a good price, just priced up everything on warehousexpress.com comes to around £650.
