Pub landlord to stand in election ...

the guy is an unfunny pratt.

...but his alter ego is actually incredibly intelligent, erudite and rather likeable. Unlike that Brand fella who seems to have several ego's, all equally obnoxious and unfunny ;)

Shame we no longer have Screaming Lord Sutch and his Monster Raving Looney Party :D

The Monster Raving Looney Party is alive and well.

I really hope pub landlord wins.

It would be so very....British.

The irony would be delicious.

What a king size w#nk! and he is an even worse comedian than Miranda Hart, Frankie Boyle and Russell Brand rolled into one

I like Al Murray a lot, and I love his election address but if he actually does stand he'll only cost the Labour party votes in Thanet South because I can't see Nigel Farage's UKIP army being swayed by celebrity.

I'm with him, UK politics is a joke so who better to stand for election than a comedian!

Was there a special offer this week on sense of humour bypasses?
Jeez.
Nowt wrong with my sense of humour, I'm off to see Dara in May at Boirnemouth Pavillion.

This guy however? Doesn't even raise a smile.

Either way I can't help wondering what the point is other than to give a Z lister a bit of free publicity?

Man known for walking about with a pint challenges man known for walking about with a pint?

Surely the point is, because he can, it's allowed to stand in British politics no matter how few votes you may get. Rather than just winge on an Internet forum, people who actually get up and do something should be encouraged.

Ooooh....Nice! :-)

just because he can doesnt mean he should. is it just a protest vote? because that worked out so well last time..

publicity stunt, nothing more. (does he have an upcoming tour by any chance?)

The point is he is NOT allowed to stand for office as the character of the pub landlord.
He could stand as Al Murray, but that's not what he's talking about.
As Neil says...publicity stunt.
And yes, he's currently on tour. Perhaps ticket sales are down

Person in doesnt like same comedian as another person shock.
