Yes
Hi, I came across someone useing a software called PTLens but after doing some digging I have been unable to find any up to date information on this software.

Is it better than L/R 5 or P/S CS 6?

I have seen that it works with cameras like the Canon 6D. 5D MK III

Anyone like to comment?
Many Thanks
Russ

Yes it is still around and covers most cameras and lenses
I use it to correct for lens distortion.
google epaperpress.com or ptlens.

it is the best of its kind.

Hi, Thank you for the reply.

http://epaperpress.com/ptlens/

They offer a free trial
You can Use it as a stand alone application
or as a plugin filter in photoshop
It reads the exif data and automatically corrects for Lens barrel or pincushion distortion.
You can also correct for perspective and fisheye distortion and chromatic aberration.
though purple fringing should be dealt with in photoshop or lightroom. as it is a different function.

Hi, Thank you for the info Terry.
I am going to try and gauge it against the DXO software http://www.dxo.com/intl/photography/dxo-viewpoint/wide-angle-lens-software
but not being an expert I will have to try and be subjective!!!
Thanks again
Russ

PTLens and DXO view point do rather different things
You need to check that Dxo have modules for your particular camera and lens as they have rather fewer modules.
The viewpoint correction for very wide lenses does so by plotting to a different Projection (ie distorting the image) which alters the way straight lines are drawn so in most cases introduces curves in their place.
which can be strange when people are shot against buildings.

Ptlens does not include this facility but only automatically corrects for distortions produced by the lens. ( no clicks) Perspective distortion caused by viewpoint can correct for Vertical and horizontal convergence, but like DXO is a manual operation.

A panora making programme like PTGui or PTAssembler can also give a choice of projections to an image, But they are rather more advanced and less easy to use on single images to correct or change distortions. They are all based on the same maths as devised by helmut Dersch For his Panorama Tools. PTLens and the others are a subset of that. With built in lookup tables for cameras and lenses.
The results will be the same with any of them, but the ease of use and functionality are different as is the scope of the look up tables.
