Ok...thinking about buying a monitor for my dell laptop I use for PP with PS & LR (eventually)...

Lappy has a HDMI output as well as the VGA monitor socket...here:

Best to get a monitor with HDMI that I can calibrate...? As fed up with the variance in the laptop screen when PSing...?

Looking at this...

If anyone has a bit to chip in feel free...I can get a loan of a Spyder...so no money req there...but the main prob is due to viewing angels and light/dark...or am I just over reacting here...? Will it make that much difference...?

Thanks to all who comment...

You could also get a HDMI>DV-I adapter which will let you choose practically any monitor out there.

The one you've listed uses a TN panel which is the same as your laptop so the colour range isn't as good and it will change if you move your head around the screen, or look up and down.

You're best of getting a IPS panel but without knowing a budget it's hard to suggest one.

OK...CHANGE OF PLAN...!!!

Way off the mark for monitor prices...Ill need to try and resolve the calibration/positioning issue...

I suppose making one of those monitor shields that surround it is another way to go...and doing the print a picture and hold it up beside the monitor...

Would a card like this be of any use... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....721815&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_792wt_1139 ...I know you can get the 18% grey card...but this also has colours...cheap version of the X-rite... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....173427&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_1534wt_905

Gonna rename the thread for clarity as the monitor is a non-runner...
