PSE9 help needed please

I'm playing around with PSE9 and liking it so far!

I have an image which I have edited. I've made a copy of the image and have blurred the copy layer, then erased a part of the top image so the original "shines" through. I'm pleased with the effect and it's what I wanted.

However, there is now a "line" round the bit I've erased and it's really obvious what I've done. Is there a way to blend this so there's not such a harsh and obvious transition between the original and the blurred image?

You could try using a softer edge brush to erase, the options are at the top left of your screen.

There may be a blur tool (looks like a tear drop ) it might be underneath the gradient tool, I haven't got elements to check. Run it around the edge of the hole and it should soften it a bit.
