Hi all,

I'm just wondering, when you import a raw photo into PSE 11, and open the image for editing, do you lose the benefits of raw? If this is the case, after opening the raw file how can you adjust highlights/shadows etc again using the raw file once it has already been opened?

Hope you understand my question :). Not sure if once you hit 'open image' if it creates a temporary JPEG from the raw that you edit on or something else.

Thanks.

The raw file stays raw, it's always ajustable back to it's original state, when you open the editied raw into photoshop proper and save, it then makes a jpeg/tiff whatever you select. If you just save the changes in the raw converter (acr) it srores the changes with the raw file so photoshop knows what changes have been made, it doesn't alter the original, only the way photoshop displays it.

Jumping in on this thread to say thanks Wayne as I was wondering the same thing as the OP
