PSE 8 image saves too dark

I edited a photo in newly acciquired Elements, i liked what i saw from the RAW file after adjusting colour curves, levels etc and saved to jpg and when i went to view it, it was much darker than what was on screen in PSE. :shrug:
Any help ideas appreciated ta.

Are you re opening it in Elements? Is your screen calibrated?

I'm opening the saved jpeg in Windows picture and fax viewer, no my monitor isn't calibrated, is there a cheap way of calibration ?

Sounds like a colour space issue , Elements is colour managed, Picture viewer is not. Try saving them in the srgb colour space ,they should then look similar as srg is nearer your monitors colour space, if you set Elements to no colour managment (which is not advisable) then they will appear exactly the same, as you would then in both programs be viewing them in your monitors colour space.
