I'm seeing a new scam on craigslist/FB marketplace/and other "classifieds" type sites.

They list a camera/product at a low price (usually stupid low).
If you inquire they note that they are away (!) so they set up a buy-it-now ebay auction for the advertised price (!) and send you a link.

The link is fraudulent (usually apparent in the URL), but it *looks quite legit*.
If you sign in you have given away your ebay login. If you just click on "buy-it-now" it takes you to a fake paypal billing page where you give away more information, and then they will send you an invoice of some sort by e-mail after submitting, which is NOT normal (I haven't seen it... I wasn't giving them any personal information).

So far, every instance I've seen was based from the Philippines from what I can tell. I'm getting tired of posting/reporting these when I find them. So instead I'm posting this alert to all.

I have been looking at some items for sale, listed on such places. I have liked the look of the item, and the prices looked good. The items were local to me, but they would not let me inspect, or accept payment on pick up. They have insisted on making payment online. I certainly won't fill out any invoices sent to me, you just never know who gets your details.

Thanks for that!
E Bay is much more secure these days so they are moving the fraud outside E bay to get around their security so care is still needed. In the past I did Anti Fraud work for a high street bank and, as a result, had great fun winding up the fraudulent posters on auction sites - I didn't keep count but probably reported well over 100. It's boring now because these fraudsters seem to have gone away - thanks to your post we know where some of them have gone:)

Thanks for the heads up ,you never know what they will cook up next
