ok, here goes... PS Elements 9.

i import a load of RAW files in to the organizer... adjust accordingly and save as jpegs. I save the jpegs in the same folder as the source of the RAW files and keep the same filenames.

So i have the thumbnails all displayed something like this... img_6843.cr2, img_6843.jpg, img_6844.cr2, img_6844.jpg etc...

what i want to do is change them to display in order of either file size or file type (like you can do easily in say windows explorer), so that i can select the jpegs easier.

i just can't figure out how to do it... i've tried right clicking images, view options...? i'm sure it must be staring me in the face :bonk:

:help: :help: :help:

Are you talking about when you use the Open File dialogue box?

If so there is an Icon (or should be) at the top called View Menu, next to the Up Level Icon. Click on the down arrow nest to that and select Details. You should be able to sort by file size now.

ah no sorry.. i mean in Elements Organizer :bonk: fancy missing that bit out!

so i have the folder tree down the left hand pane.. with the relevant thumbnails showing in the main window.

so i want to sort the thumbnails in the organizer to size / type etc..

It can be done in Lightroom! :) Not sure about Elements.

i can't believe this can't be done. I thought you guys were experts

Remember not everyone uses the same software so you will have to wait for Elements 9 users to find the thread or change the subject of the post to give a hint of your problem :)

aha... good thinking

will do christine.

No it is not possible like that, but there are other ways.

1-The first question is if you are saving them in the same folder why are you not stacking the raw file and the converted jpeg (with the jpeg on top) together then when you find the jpeg the raw file is stacked underneath it and easily accessible.

2- If you do not want to do it that way then save the jpegs in a seperate folder to the raws and choose view by folder.

3- Another way would be to use the find by meta data and make it a smart collection, then all your jpegs would automaticly go into this collection and can be viewed at the click of a button.

Although I have PSE9 I do not use the organizer.;)

absolutely spiffing! cheers Paul.

i've never used the organizer until now either - it's just that i'm taking loads of images at the moment for a new website, so i thought this would be easier to categorise and sort the images for easy access.

the last option i think will be favourite with the smart tags!
