PS CS4 problem

For some unknown reason Photoshop has decided to open all my images with really muted colours? I don't think I have changed anything ( However I am an infernal tweaker) and I am shooting in Adobe RGB colour space and have ACR set to that too but they are just awful when I open them. My monitor is calibrated weekly and when I look at the previews in viewer they look just fine? Any ideas?

Opening in PS or ACR?

The previews will be the little JPEGs that the camera generates, then the full file you open is probably a very flat rendering of the raw file so will naturally be more muted.

Check the calibration in ACR as well. eg is it set to Adobe Standard, or one of the camera profiles..

Thanks James, its in ACR, I tried changing the calibration with no effect, I just have no idea what the hell is happening?

I had this problem a while ago, changed to Adobe sRGB from 1998, are you saving them as Tiff?

Thanks, for your reply, no, I am saving them as jpeg however it is when I open them that I see the problem.

try resetting your colour space.

Ok, so I feel stuppppppid now....There was nothing wrong with the setting for PS, or the monitor, it was the camera, I had inadvertently set the picture style to Landscape...ACR doesn't recognise picture styles.....Doh!

I post my embarrassment in the hope that it helps someone else. If I can save just one photographer......

Yes it does, when in ACR go to the camera calibration tab (7th one along), click the drop down menu and there you shall see your camera picture styles.

Sorry Tiler, yes I know about the tab but that would be if you knew that you had shot in a different style, when it opens it it doesn't use the picture style, (If I shoot using the B&W style it opens it in full colour). Because I panicked and never even thought about stupid bloody picture styles it never entered my head...
