PS CS4 - Image processing from Bridge not working any more!

I have been everywhere on forums trying to resolve this issue, I have CS4 Extended running in XP and until recently was able to batch process selected images in Bridge, via tools>photoshop>image processor. Suddenly it stopped working - the the error messgae is: "sorry I could not process the following files:".

I downloaded Dr Brown's "1-2-3 Process" to see if I could use that, and this won't work either - the error message is "Did you point me to an empty file".

I have tried reinstalling PS to no avail. I can run the steps on my laptop which has Vista, but as it used to work in XP I am baffled.

Can anyone help .. PLEASE!! :bang:
 
Are these new files or ones that you have had for some time? If it's the later have you moved them to a new location?
 
Have you tried turning the PC back in system restore, pick a restore point from a week or so before things went wrong. I personly dont use Bridge as I found it quite precesssor hungry. I use Fastone image viewer. http://www.faststone.org/FSViewerDetail.htm You could try that, if the restore point method doesnt work.
 
Not new files or new locations (happens whatever files I try) and this happened a while ago (have been using my laptop as alternative) and only now getting back to it, to try to sort it .. so can't use restore soln.... trying another reinstall. Will have a look at Fastone .. many thanks guys!
 
Have you tried resetting preferences in photoshp? this often fixes odd issues (and isn't done as part of a re-install couriously) Hold down CTRL+ALT+SHIFT while starting photoshop, then click yes to the pop up box saying reset photoshop settigs (or something like that)
 
Think I understand the problem now, it's to do with my Windows file structure - I seem to have acquired duplicate Application Data folders and other system folders after windows was reinstalled a few months ago, each containing different versions of data and the scripts are looking in the wrong locations ... ( or so it appears to my less than sophisticated knowledge of things and I don't know how to point Adobe to the correct place) ... so a fundamental sort out of my system is what I need and will get an expert for that as I'll probably mess it all up.
 
Scripts are usually in c/program files/adobe/photoshop CS4/presets/scripts
 
Some of inter-communication scripts are in:-
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Startup Scripts CS4

c/program files/adobe/photoshop CS4/presets/scripts is where one set of users accessable scripts are kept, there are other folders as well but are hidden from the user.

Also check in Bridge preferences that Photoshop Scripts have been enabled.
 
The OP mentiones Dr Browns 123 processor, that won't be in the common files one, it'll be in the presets one.
 
The main point here is that the OP said problems from Bridge so ALL my points are valid!
Bridge NEEDS to communicate with Photoshop.
If there is anything amiss with the above scripts and Bridge Preferences(scripts) things are not going to work.
