PS automated function question

Edit My Images
Yes
Hi there

I have a line of dead pixels that show at high ISO and bright light (not very often)

I wanted to set up an automated function to remove the line.

I use Lightroom and decided that I'd have to set up an automated task in Photoshop.

OK - if I open the file directly in Photoshop, the recorded action works (it copies the line of pixels next to the dead ones, copies it, moves it over one pixel and pastes it). It looks great - not noticeable at all.

However - if I open the image in Lightroom, then choose 'edit in Photoshop' and THEN run my automated process, it doesn't work. It seems to be choosing a different line of pixels, like it's lost it's co-ordinates.

Any help? I guess I can do it as a separate workflow but ideally it'll work in hand with Lightroom...

Is it choosing the same (wrong) line every time? or does it wander about? If it's choosing the same line each time I'd make another action just for the lightroom edit, if it's random we need to find out why or whats affecting it.

How about opening a file from LR into photoshop, then make a new action. Does that consitantly work?

Obviously all files will need to be the same orientation and size for this to work at all. So make an action for landscape and portrait.

Thanks. It's the same area each time, and from looking at the preset's steps in detail, it doesn't appear to store the actual pixels other then the length and width of the selected area anywhere.

Hi, thanks for chiming in. How do you mean? I generally open the .ERF file with LR, and when choosing 'edit in > Photoshop' in LR I am essentially editing the same file without any adjustments.

Ah, do you mean literally do the workflow and then save the action to see if that makes a difference, rather than setting the automation via PS separately? Worth a try...

Yup. Just incase there's some siZing changes happening with the different workflow. allthough that's easliy checked via "image size"

So from LR, "open in PS", and then edit or redo the action.

It really should work as I have a number of actions selecting a certain area of a file that I use every day at work (graphic design). If I open a PDF file in ps that has crop marks it works fine, if I open one without, it goes pear shaped as the dimensions differ. Hence needing one action for landscape, one for portrait.

Yeah I'll try that thanks. No re-sizing that I'm aware of happening but it's worth trying all the same.
