Hi all..I am pleased to say that three of my images have done very well in an online competition, one being placed fifth and 'highly commended' while another two were awarded 'images of note', obviously I am rather chuffed but do you think it is the done thing to put these achievements on my website or would that come across as bragging?
Your comments appreciated

Well done  personally I'd only put wins on, that said Ive never entered a serious competition so I'm not likely to have any images place anywhere

Firstly, congratulations.

Secondly, if you are trying to win business with your website, you will achieve this on the strength of your images. Customers generally wouldnt give a ...monkeys if youve done well in an online photographic competition that theyve never heard of.

Cheers

Nick

Congratulations

Do you mean writing about your achievements within the text of your site or do you mean adding a small footnote of some description against each individual shot ?

If it's the former then it all comes down to the way you phrase it.

If it's the latter then it's all subjective anyway.

It's a good feeling isn't it? I would only comment on your website if your visitors/clients would recognise the source of the prize if htat makes sense.

Also, you need to post them up so we can take a peek too! :)

Thanks Guys..I was thinking of making a caption on each relevant image, but I think the feeling here is to forget it, actually my better judgement is telling me that, thanks for the comments..here are the images, the mono was the 5th placed

Cant you simplify it.. here are a selection of my award winning .......

If it's a personal site, why not blow the trumpet, especially as a caption to the shots. If it's a commercial site, unless it's a well known competition and the images were winners, probably not, although a mention of the achievement in a blog would be OK IMO.

Nod's correct. Being highly commended in your local camera club is NOT something I;d be shouting about, but highly commended in the AoP Awards would definitely be on my CV.

You should consider listing placings like 2nd, 3rd, 4th 5th, highly commended's etc as you being a 'finalist in...'.

The prestige of the competition, as others have said, is more important to consider.

There's a semi- pro photographer near me I'm told has their tag line on Facebook as 'award winning photographer' based on her local camera club entries getting a top 3 placing.

Proud. Well done.

Remember that most people don't like to see others succeed even though most of them would never admit that ;)

Whether it's someone on the street that said your image was nice or you won an award - it's the recognition of your work that you created pleasing someone else. That's what's to be proud of.

Weather it goes on your website or not is another question but you should always be proud that your work is liked by others :)
