hi guys, sorry to blow my own trumpet but after months of saving up, researeching, and hunting down the camera that i wanted its finaly happened. as of today i have moved into the wonderful world of DSLR.

i would just like to say a massive thank you to eveyone who answered my posts and constant pestering, im sure i will have more questions to follow lol

ps i got an Olympus E520 with 14 42mm lens and the 150mm lens, Lowepro bag, memory card and 2 UV filters with a great deal from Jessops in Worcester really helpful staff as :love:well
 
Congratulations! Look forward to seeing some of your pictures with your new toys. The 520's a great camera and they're really good value at the moment.

Good luck with your new dslr from another recent beginner. I bought a 1000D a few months ago & I am delighted with it & I hope you are as happy as I am.

Only kidding, enjoy it! Just remember, the best camera is the one you have with you.
 
Be warned though, its a nasty little virus that runs right through you and takes over your whole life.
Symptons are loss of rationality - Sudden urges to spend on kit when you dont really need something but want it because it either looks good or you just want it.
Regular use of porkies when talking to the other half about how much gear costs.
Unable to look at things anymore without thinking "Wish I had my camera".
And this is only the beginning......

My irrational spending has led me from a Canon 400D with 18-55 kit lens to a 1D MKIII and 3 L Lenses plus a shed load of other bits within 18 months.

Otherwise a very enjoyable hobby and one that will certainly keep you busy!

Clearly showing symptoms of the virus after only a short period of contact with a DSLR. These things should come with a health warning, or at the least a financial advisory warning haha

haha similar thing happened to me as well. went from a 400D to a 1D mk II and a thousands of pounds of toys.

Can only agree with what those above have posted in that you'll soon find yourself totally hooked and spending more money that you thought you could earn - on camera gear!

nice one, well done. It's a great feeling getting your first DSLR, I was the same when I got my 50D in September last year. Just waiting for my 4th lens and a few other bits just to add to the ever growing collection of stuff.

tell me about it mate, im already looking at wide angle lenses, fisheye and all kinds of other gadgets. i think i should start printing money if i want it all lol

i wish the ohter half wasnt there when i brought it, she will be keeping tabs on me now lol

wicked man i just cant wait to get out and about with it iv been at work since i brought it looking through the manual on breaks lol god i wish i had booked time off sooner haha

i know what you mean ever since it was in amateur photographer i have thought "one day it will be mine" lol its gorgeous looking camera

thanks for the link mate, back to months of saving to get some extra lenses now though.

im thinking of buy old OM lenses like a wide angle and using that instead specially if i find one in good nick
 
sodding weather i still haven't been able to get out in the field and take my first shots

I've got the 7-14 and it's awesome. Having said that the 9-18 is fantastic value too. The fisheye is very good too, although it takes a lot more work to get 'realistic' photos with one. I only just got mine (ebay), and it's a lot of fun.

Personally I'd go for the ultra wide angle first. But that's just me!

Enjoy your new habit (or hobby perhaps).
