Sorry if i'm not on the right thread here, Nikon D40 what settings do i require to get prop blur when taking pics of my sons remote control helicopter :shrug:
 
you'll need a longish shutter speed to get some blur, try starting at 1/60th and go longer from there. In case you don't know, put your camera into shutter speed priority (S) and it should take care of the other settings for you.
 
I know this isn't a RC heli, but this was at 1/60.

Just remember that if you go too long on the shutter speed for prop blur, you'll also start getting helicopter blur due to movement. As others have said I would start at around 1/100th and see what that gives you.
