PROJECT THREE - MagicMynx's magic chair

LOL Baz

Yep, mine's gonna be covered in foam, how cool is that :D In the winter in the middle of the night when I'm doing night shots, it's not gonna be icy cold to touch - so I can touch it without it hurting too much  how wicked is that? :D

Nat,

I bought 2' x 1' of VERY adhesive foam. I have used 1"x2" so far in the battery compartment of your radio trigger in order that the battery does not move about and then we need to cover the metal plate with foam as you have said. I have been thinking about the rest of the setup and am thinking of encapsulating the down tube of your platform with a plastic pipe and covering that in foam too.

Your radio trigger sender box is made from plastic. Does this need to be foam covered?

Plastic doesn't get too cold, it's the metal that's really cold. See when I touch something cold it knacks (which is a b****r cause I adore ice cream!) and I lose movement and get spasms etc, but as always, I trust your judgement.

Ok, I have purposely bought plenty of the foam so it might be worth covering it anyway which will mean that it will all match and it will stop it looking tatty later.

Do you have anything else you use that needs covering ?

We will need to think about a day for YOUR handover next :)

Just had a nice photo order in so, another top up on it's way

Thank you Pete.

Thank you Darren. Erm, I'm not sure if there's anything else that could be covered. I'll have a think and ask my better half (bit doped up ATM).

My handover date....you know as soon as we talk about handover dates it becomes suddenly very real in a different way, don't you?

After Tuesday I should be able to give you a list of dates when I'm not available and then you can work out a date from which days you're available and I'm available etc, if that's any good? Though I don't know how things are going to go after 8th.

Do you never have that feeling that something is surreal til it almost happens, like going on holiday or something, wheels?

Since Darren said it would be on Tuesday, I have been in that place

That's exactly what I mean ;)

My wedding day (well, 2nd wedding day) it wasn't until I went to Mass that morning at Church and saw the flowers that it suddenly it became very real, my eyes filling up with tears and all that.

This project I'm overwhelmed by people's kindness and dedication, but right now it still feels surreal. As soon as we talk dates etc, that's when it's gonna hit me how real it all is.

I know the surrealness is emphasised by the meds that I'm taking too

We sound like twins seperated at birth, both married twice, both chariot users, both into photography, both under the care of Dr Frankenstein oooops I mean Darren;), and both share the surreal moments due to medication, luckily mostly at night for my doped up to the eye balls moments, where I can be talking to someone and Bam it hits me the meds kick in and Im gone.

LOL, not too disimmilar - but I married the same person twice.

Hate how the meds make me feel though - and the gibberish that I talk. :bang:

There's a well known episode on TP where I was convinced that I had an extra bit to my camera, that I had to screw off some glass to change the lens hood.

When will Nats big hand over be happening. I can't wait for two mobile photographic platform stations to go global. :-)

:woot:Gawd I'm getting really excited as well. Hurry up tomorrow I say, and then Nats handover as well. :woot:

Markw08,

We shouldn't have joked about the post office.....

The plates arrived on Saturday but had ripped their way out of the jiffy bag which was now in a post office plastic bag :)

Thanks they are ideal

Keith,

Batteries arrived too. Thanks for them. Should let Nat play for quite a while :)

Yes, just need to drill the spider attachment holes (I couldn't work out how to place them properly on the diagram so need to drill them myself :))

I will also pick up some other bits from Stuart at Digital Depot tomorrow and the electronics are complete (other than the buttons which have not yet arrived!)

So all in all we are not too far away with Nat's project.

Just need a little bit more for the 3rd wheel chair camera platform and we will have that one ready for deployment :)

I am also quietly making my studio totally wheel chair ready. Wheels has donated a couple of ramps for the curb as the council would charge silly money and I put a wide door in place so just need a ramp 3 feet by 1 feet going from nothing to 1 inch high..... Possibly look for some metal plate as I will have some square section metal tube left from a project I am doing for myself (building a product photography table with frosted acrylic curved top and lit from underneath/side and top :))

Don't forget to put a doorbell and a sticker saying something like "ring for access" then a wheelchair on, if you're not leaving the ramps out constantly. Shows customers with wheels that they can get in, even if it doesn't look like it at first. Silly and simple thing, but it's those things that can make all the difference.

My "QUOTE" buttons have disappeared :suspect:

Nat,

I don't have customers :) This is my own personal studio. Once I get my backdrop bar up and the new studio lights in etc I will be inviting people along for a play. Having wheelchair access means that people with disabilities can make use of it just as easily. So Wheels can pop along and do some studio work as can others that live nearby.

Darren, just seen this thread, sorry :(

Do you have a latest 'needs' list?

Ka$H,

The item that we need in order to complete the 3rd setup (minus radio transmitter/cable remote device which I have to make/modify according to the person/camera) is a Manfrotto 222 joystick head (or donations towards it)!

We also need 2 (or preferably 6) matching NON LATCHING DPDT buttons which are weatherproof and 1 inch or so across - This is actually for Wheels' who will get a setup tomorrow with temporary buttons!

I am going to stop for a while then simple because at the moment people have been so generous it is wonderful but I do not want to get to the point where we can't do anything again because people are no longer happy to do it.

Darren, I've sent you a PM about the buttons, lets see if we can get Wheel's finished off properly, then we can look at No. 3 (Assuming Nattelie's is all done ;) )

Nat,

Well after Julian got his setup that means that you're next :)

Picked up some more bits for yours today from Stuart too.

Thank you and thank you so much to everyone who has contributed.

After reading Julian's thread, I've now got butterflies in my tummy!

I hope you get yours ASAP Nat it still hasnt sank in that this is real xx

WOOPS !!!!

Due to an accounting error (which I blame on Excel) we have overspent and we are currently short rather than have money left over so if anyone else was looking to donate then it would be appreciated. Not much left to get now and we should have two very happy TP members plus we will be carrying stock of parts nearly adequate for a third.

Hi mate

BTW: Also you are the real star in all this, You and the others who have made the effort and put all this into something real!!!

Well done!

Andy
