Project 52....by Kennysarmy + week 27 Highlight

:clap::clap::clap:

When I saw the theme for week 14, I expected to see lots of red street furniture - letter + box = bingo!

But this is far cuter than I imagined. :)

I love the 'village' feel - a little letter box set in a whitewashed wall would be good enough for me on their own - but the cottage name AND the washing line tells a great story - I think it's terrific. And you found a nice sunny day to capture it.:clap:

Jean

Thats really nice and, as Jean says, kinda cute :)

The inclusion of the colourful washing adds an interesting balance to the shot!

Very well seen and taken!!

When I'm done catching up I'll get my letter sorted :)

Fabulous!!! agree with most of Jean's comments, but would add that the focus is spot on, even picked up the differentiation in the white paint as it moves up the wall. Lovely

apparently i missed your up shot, which is a shame cos i think its fantastic, timing is spot on

and letter is just lovely as said you have caught a great village feel to the image

hats off to the pros who do this for a living.....even pre focusing on the fence it's really hard to time it just right....this was the best of a few....even harder trying to just get TWO in the shot lol (mono would have been much easier)

Love the Letter pic, really nice image.

The Duo pic is really good too, I have been asked several times to photograph a friends daughter who show jumps and I have been putting it off for ages, you have delt with a difficult bit of photography very well.

Ohh nicely different and well caught!

Great detail and a lovely mono duo :) (Theres a phrase I've never used before :D)

Agree with all the other comments, and from my own experiences this week getting a good moving target is very difficult.

Love the colour treatment. Fab

Got to say, I think your letter pic is the best of the week...brilliant!
Like your Duo pic too...difficult shot to get, and you seem to have nailed it
Jon

Agree with Ruth. Well captured.:clap:

I hope you had a bet on the eventual winner.

Jean

Funny you should say that...
In the first race my horse fell :(
In this race (the 2nd) I had the winner - 7/1 and spent the winnings on a new monocular...the 3rd race only had 3 runners...so we left after just two races....

Really like the letter shot, sorry I missed it. Well done on the Duo shot, excellent timing and not an easy shot to get right, love the processing too

Letter - Love it, it would have been a good image with just the post box contrasting against the white wall, but the inclusion of the washing line is an interesting move that I think has worked really well.

Duo - nicely timed shot that is sharp - no mean feat for a moving subject, though it looks like you were blessed with really bright light on the day which helps. The Duo of Black and White also works well

Lovely composition, nice light, well timed. Excellent stuff!

I think this week was one of the hardest so far. :)

I can imagine these 2 were longing for some of the real white stuff, but I can't really see it in their faces - sorry.

Your last couple of weeks have been stunning, so please don't take this the wrong way. :) I look forward to seeing next week's.

btw - I still like your Longing better than mine!! :D

Jean

I do like your method of shooting subjects. I must try your way soon
:clap::clap:

I agree that you cant see the longing in the subjects but i am not 100% sure you need too. Lets face it skiers long for snow so for me it fits the theme :)

Afraid I agree with Jean on this one - I like the idea but I'm not sure it says what you want it to. Not really sure how you would bring out the longing for snow aspect though... I'm sorry, this really isn't very helpfull C&C is it!

:coat:

Looking forward to seeing the next one ;)

Doesn't quite convey longing to me, tough one to crit.

Not sure how I could have done it any better to be fair.

Another week in though...

How have I missed your last few shots, I'm sorry :(

Love the UP shot, split second timing and a perfect example of the theme

Letter - this is my favourite for that theme, love the composition, the colours and the fact that you've captured the white wall without anythin been blown.:clap:

DUO - A difficult shot well captured and I love the mono/duo treatment

Longing - Difficult one to crit after the other 3 as it doesn't really say longing to me, and as a stand alone picture it doesn't do anything for me either, sorry:( but I've got a feeling a number of mine have been (and will be) like that. But 3 out of 4 is a great score :thumbs::thumbs:

Not sure about Longning, having done skiing and been in that position I understand it, but the image doesn't really shot that...

As for Dark... what a tough theme... That's a really bright flare from the match, good timing to have caught it, but tough to expose correctly. Possibly there's a bit too much burnt out, but a good idea and it fits the theme well.

Excelent idea, like John says maybe a little too much is blown but I like it all the same

Thats a difficult shot to get right, I think you nearly nailed it, just slightly to blown. Well done at trying though, much better than I would have got.

Mark

Nicely done.

I can see that it is a little blown, and understand that in a detailed shot this loss of detail is a no no. However, I wonder how much detail in a spark of flame needs to be retained? Just my thoughts!!

Thanks for all the comments...

Interestingly I processed the RAW file with highlight clipping turned on to ensure there was no BLOW OUT of the flame...so strange that it still gives this effect...

Wonder how much it really distracts from the shot....

I agree but I do think there is a bit too much blown highlight. Having said that it's always going to be a problem in a shot like this and I don't think it detracts that much. Good effort

Quite impressive.

I think this is a great effort, tough shot well executed.

Longing - I know this was a tough week but I don't think this is one of your best, I think a tighter crop is needed and perhaps a different angle

Dark - As the others have said this is a hard shot to get right and you've done really well to get this close, the timing is spot on even if the exposure is slightly out.

Nicely done and you almost pulled it off...

Nobody can knock you for taking the easy route on these 52s...:clap::clap:

You are consistent with the effort you put in and I'm liking your photography more and more...

Brilliant keep it up...

I've been trying to imagine how you'd expose for this - matches will flare with varying intensities. Not an easy one, imo.

Although it looks a little blown, I don't see how you could avoid it because of the contrast between the flame and the darkness, and I don't think it detracts from the shot. So well done on a really difficult one.:clap:

I also like the heart shape in the flame. :)

Jean

Like the movement in this shot, a clever idea well executed.
