Having recently purchased the Nikon 14-24mm f2.8 lens I desperately needed to find a filter system for its bulbous front element.
There are a few systems on the market now but after reading some negative reviews and doing a little research I wasn't convinced. Heavy colour casts and some quite serious vignetting.
I was starting to give up hope, as a heavy user of filters in the field I was starting to stress about having a lens I couldn't really use.
Then, I came across a company from the US called ProGrey. I trawled through all the information I could find about them. Read all the reviews.
Minimal colour casts and so little vignetting it goes undetected.
After contacting them through email I decided they were the company for me. The help and advice I was offered before, during and after the sale was amazing. Very friendly and helpful staff. My items were processed and shipped within 2 days and had arrived sooner than I could have expected. I was excited, but also a bit nervous. How could this company claim to have all these benefits but still be so competitively priced? Had I made the correct decision in ProGrey USA?
Then........ I opened my box and...........WOW. These filters were packaged so well. Sturdy boxes all sealed and sparkly fresh. They looked professional. Felt professional.
On opening the first of many little packages I could not get over the size of these filters. 150mm x 170mm. They were large. But large is good. What impressed me most was, every individual filter has its own little foam padded carry case. Slim in design so it wont fill your camera bag, but soft and secure so they wont be damaged through it. Each filter case has a label on its top edge describing the filter encased within. No fumbling about to find the correct filter. Easy.
The Glass 3 stop & 10 stop filters are truly a work of art, dust and scratch resistant coatings and a foam edge to seal it against the filter holder ensure no light can leak between filter and lens. The stoppers are 150mm x 150mm and just look out of this world.
The G-150x filter holder is a thing of beauty, well machined and built sturdy. Again this comes with its own carry pouch with an emblazoned ProGrey logo. Included are extra filter holder grips for 1 or 3 filters at a time ( comes with 2 filter holder supplied ). The sleeve fits over the lens beautifully and you can tell it was precision engineered. The frontal plate has four small lugs which fit perfectly around the petal on the lens holding it firmly in place while the sleeve is screwed in. Once screwed up it feels very safe and secure and a quick turn of a little thumb screw sees the filter holder in place. All in all a very quick system to assemble.
I also purchased a G-150x adapter (82mm - 77mm CPL type). This meant that I could easily use this filter system on all my lenses with a 77mm thread while still being able to use a CPL filter. The adapter has 2 opening doors so you can adjust a CPL while having Grads on. They really have thought of everything. It again is solidly constructed from metal but isn't too heavy either. Also supplied....... you guessed it, a neoprene padded carry case. I have totally fallen in love with this set up. I do not need multiple systems for each lens thanks to the adapter, I can quickly fit this to any lens in the field meaning I don't miss the shot and with an ever growing range of products I'm never stuck for filter options.

I have many more images of the filter system. If anyone is interested in seeing them let me know.
I hope this review has been helpful and you have enjoyed reading it. I will write a further review and include some sample images taken using the filters in a short while.
