Yes
I've installed Photoshop CS3 on my laptop, so i can get some processing done at work when i'm on nightshift:naughty:
However i've tried to merge a panoramic last night and it wouln't merge properly. Nine photos, they all lined up ok, but there were visible merge lines and the colours were wrong:thinking: I've tried the same photo on the desktop and its fine. So is it just my laptop isn't up to it?
Laptop spec is:
Toshiba 5200 Core2Duo
100gb Harddrive
2gig Ram
On board graphics
Vista 32bit

The only problems i can think of are; the harddrive is getting full(it is running low on memory) but theres a 320gb one on order
The graphics recommended on the Adobe site is 16bit, don't know if thats the problem:bonk: Or if i can upgrade it

Your thoughts and advice please:thumbs:

Could be one of many issues.

However you can ignore the vista 32 bit and the graphics 16 bit. In fact if you look at your display settings you'll probably find it is 32bit colour.

The onboard graphics are utilising part of the 2GB of RAM. the actual amount will be set in the bios. So potentially depending on swap file/cahes you may be a bit low on RAM and or HDD space.

Cheers for the reply. I'll try it with the new harddrive when it arrives as the current one is getting low, despite deleting some programs:(
I have considered upping to 4gb ram, might have another look at that:D

I upgraded my laptop to 4gb when it was on windows XP media and it flew, then i done a vista upgrade, the worse thing i could have done, it just slowed it right down :(

Yeah Vista is fairly heavy on memory. 320gb hdd and 4gig memory ordered, that should fettle it:bat:

I run a laptop on Vista, the spec is fairly low although Dual core it only has 1 meg of RAM. CS3 run perfectly on it by allocating more RAM through the preferences on CS3.

I have also stripped out all the flashy bits and turned off unnecessary processes and turned the whole system into looking like XP, it's all the flash that makes the system bulky and therefore more RAM would be required to run a program like CS3.

Vista without modding is very heavy on processors and memory, I only run Microsoft office, Cannon software,CS3 and Photoshop Elements on my laptop and it copes with it fine. All my photo's are stored on 2 NAS boxes connected to my router(had problems accessing these too but found a work around) I keep no files on my laptop except the ones I'm working on, I do the same with my desktop.

The laptop runs nice and fast, also use a 8Gb flashdrive using Vista's Readyboost see HERE

It is a bit, I'll knock up an idiots guide and post it on here, meantime allocate more ram on PS3 it really makes a difference.

when you get the performance window use the slider to up the allocated memory as below.

And change your windows theme to Windows classic, this will speed up the system as a start.

Thanks Nev that should suit me down to the ground :D:D and i will allocate more memory too

You should never allocate 100% of memory to Photoshop, you still need to leave wiggle room for the OS to operate :)

Depending on how much memory you have, you can usually go higher than Photoshop recommends though. For 2 gig memory I would give it abut 80%

Not made any difference to mine, will only allocate 1/2 anyway

Just a thought, can the same memory allocation be used on Nikons capture NX, and if so how ? i just wondered as this program seems to run very slow on my PC hence i never use it, i have 4gb of RAM on my PC.

Handy tip, didn't know you could do that:thumbs:

Fixed!!:woot:
4gb ram and new 320gb hdd and its does what its supposed to!:woot:
