Problems with 16 bit files in PSE 7

Well I'm trying to process my RAW files from a recent holiday.........

I use DPP to make basic adjustments & then open the RAW in PSE 7, tweak recovery fill light etc. Then I open the image as a 16 bit file & find I can't access any of the layers options, they are all greyed out with a no entry sign over them when I hover over the icons.

This is probably very simple but could someone put me out of my misery!

IIRC 16bit layers aren't officially available in PSE.

You need to convert to 8bit. So do all your colour correction then convert to 8bit for the layer work.
