I have a focus problem with my Tamron SP 70-300 Di VC,on a D7100, it will only lock focus occasionally, bit strange as it is fine on my D60 and D5000, only happens on my D7100, anyone had similar problems or can suggest a possible cause.

Checked the contacts, all look OK, the camera works fine with the other lenses just a problem with the Tamron, most strange.

The sort of problem that could have you running round in circles.
Have you just got that lens or did it previously work OK on your D7100 ?

I have had the lens for a while now but never used it on the D7100, first time the other day, I have been reading through the manual, in case there was some setting I didnt know about, with no result, perhaps do a factory reset on the body and see whet happens.

What do you mean by locking focus?

Also, what focus mode is your D7100 set to, single (S) or continuous (C) AF, as if it's set to C it will be continuously tying to focus while ever the shutter (or BBF) button is pressed

After checking I found it was on AFA, so reset to AFS, seems OK now, at least on static subjects, ie. neighbours houses, will see what it does tomorrow when I'm out.
