I have had this camera about two years now hence it's past the warranty however the problem started ll before the warranty was up, however I thought nothing of it as I thought it was the card.
Basically the camera decides that the card is unusable and gives me an error of 'unable to use card' after giving me the option to format as it says there is a card error.
This happened the first time after about 6/7 months of owning it and I bought a new card and it worked again, hence I thought it was the card, it happened again about 3 months later and again as it took a while to brake again, however in the last month I have bought two new cards and the most recent one broke within 3days hence there must be a problem with the camera.

Highly annoyed as there was obviously a problem with the camera from early on however could not have known until now it was broken like that.
Any ideas on what could be wrong or what I could do?
 
It sounds as if the camera could be the problem, but you may just be unlucky with the CF you are using.

What cards are you using, and where are you getting them from? There are a significant number of fake cards in eBay, for example.

If you are not doing so, I'd advise getting a known brand (Sandisk) from a good source (Play, or Amazon [not 3rd party]) and seeing how that goes.

Always format the card in camera, always switch off the camera before removing or inserting the card.
 
And also 'eject' via the computer before removing from reader

i have tried both these things, using well known branded cf cards sandisk and kingston and once i realised the card was being a problem i decided it could be because of not ejecting safely hence after the first time it broke i started 'ejecting safely'
 
Maybe an abnormal voltage or power supply is corrupting the cards (unlikely I know but worth a mention). What batteries / charger do you use? I can't see how else a body could routinely corrupt cards?

And how do you download from the card to computer? Via the camera and USB cable or straight from the card?

Is it possible that you can try these 'Dud' cards in another camera
 
i use the battery and charger supplied with the camera when i got it.
I have also tried these cards in other cameras afterwards and they also do not work in these cameras :S
