I have created a PS Action on my Mac which works fine. I have taken it to a PC and installed. It shows up in the Actions palette but when I click on it to run it, an error message says "could not complete command because of a programme error".
Can anyone give me an indication of what's wrong and how I put it right?

I would have thought that your PC is not recognising the Mac software that created the action and that you would have to create it again under the PC banner.
Then again I may be totally wrong and await an experts advice on PS.

As far as I am aware, Photoshop Actions work cross platform. But I know little about PCs so wait to hear of possible solutions. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

What does the action do? is it using a plug-in or something thats not in the pc version of photoshop?

Its a simple action that I created to put a watermark over photographs.
I've created it CS5 on the Mac and then moved it to PC (PS V.7)
The action just involves one word of white text, bevelled and embossed - nothing complicated.

Different font maybe? Am I right in thinking you saved the action from the actions palette? does it have the proper ATN extension?

The font is only Arial and is on both machines and yes, it has the correct atn extension

Since its in the palette, I presume it has been loaded OK??

I think it may be a version problem. It could be that the two versions of Photoshop aren't compatible when it comes to actions. CS5 is Photoshop 12 ( I think) whilst you are trying to use it on Version 7 on the PC. CS5 would be running in 64 bit whilst Version 7 is 32 bit. that could be causing some problems as well

There are a number of changes between those version, actions may not be backwards compatable.

Thanks guys. If you can think of a different way of doing this then I would be interested to here. In the meantime, I think I'm just going to go sit at the PC and create the action in PS7.

Have you tried saving the action again just in case something corrupted the first time? Does the action run at all, you know start running then get an error, or do you get the error when you try to run it?. Have you tried getting someone else to run the action so at least you know the saved actions is or isn't working, then it's narrowing down why it's not working.
