Help required please,
I've a 1D MK4 and a canon speedlite trasmitter, ST-E2, the problem is everything works fine with the flash(580 EX) attached to the camera but off camera nothing, used it last night off camera and it worked fine, wondered if I've pressed something to stop it working ??,batteries in the transmitter are as good as new. Thanks

Is the flash in master or slave mode? Are the channels matching on both the flash and the controller? Does the controller have line-of-sight with the flash?

Dont really know Pat,new to flash photography, just been messing around with different things, thats what's made me ask could I have pressed something.

Racking my brains. I use the Nikon equivalent but it's pretty foolproof. This has my mind blank....

Is the flashgun on the ttl setting because most triggers can't deal with ttl.

He's not using triggers. He's using the dedicated ST-E2 controller. :)

Was you shooting outside in bright sunlight ? There are known issues with your setup in these conditions.
