I'm currently setting up my camera to take some closup indoor shots ( it's raining outside ) with my D80, using my tripod, but when i turn the camera on and go to MENU > SETTINGS and MIRROR LOCKUP i find that i cant use this setting ?? can anyone tell me why please.

The D80 does not have a mirror lock up for taking pictures. The mirror lock up in the menu is to enable you to clean the sensor.

Best to use a remote release and enable CSM #31 which is exposure delay mode (delayed shutter release). This will achieve the same i.e. vibration free shots!

Hope this helps.

Firstly the mirror-lock up mode is only used for sensor cleaning.

The D80 doesn't have a mirror-lock up mode for tripod shooting.

And as this is strictly a cleaning mode, they want you to have a fully charged battery in case the mirror falls on your cleaning tools.
