problem with my mates d100

Hi,
can't seem to get the continious burst up to anywhere near 3 frames a sec. even when i take single photographs the shutter takes ages to click if that makes sense,
i'm trying to take pictures of sprinting rabbits and and i'm having modest success tracking them but when i want to shoot them i press the button and it takes ages for the camera to take the pic... so i only get 1 or 2 shots because the view finder obviously goes blank and i therefore fail to track the rabbit.?

i'm shooting on "S priority with the shutterspeed >1500. jpeg fine. set to continious burst....

but its really slow in comparison to the d80.

any help gratefully recieved, i know it'll be something simple because i can't imagine the d100 is so slow!

I dont know that camera but I woud check the settings.

do you mean continuous autofocus? If so is it waiting to be perfectly in focus before triggering the shutter? I can change the settings on the e-1 so that in continuous focus it will shoot when I press the button - regardless of what the camera thinks of the focus. If you have something fast moving then the combination of imperfect tracking and the focus potentially hunting arounf the target could cause problems?

many thanks for the reply, its not the focus (half press), it locks and tracks really quick...

my problem is when i fully press the button and keep my finger down, it only shoot approx 1.5 frams a sec if i'm lucky... its really slow, and the view finder thing stays black for a while so i loose what i was tracking.

also when i'm not on s priority and take a normal photograph, it seems to take an age to (process? the pic)

I want to be able to shoot 3 frams a sec... real quick. some 1 said it might be my memory card, it might be a slow 1??
as u can see i'm not fully clued up but have messed about with various settings, and can't get it to shoot any quicker...

please help.

i've tried just holding the camera still keeping the focus and again its soo slow.

Try setting the camera in manual to 1/4000 sec at the widest apeture of your lens, switch focus to manual as well and check your in large jpeg and have a half decent memory card, some older ones have a slow write time which may affect it, with a freshly charged battery see what it does then.
3 fps is the best claimed rate, it's possible the custom functions settings might affect that, some settings will (14 bit or hi iso noise reduction often do this) I don't have your model so it might be worth checking the handbook. Wayne

Just found another forum suggesting a check of "CSM Function 24: Anti Shock. if switched on. This will cause a shutter delay."

Also check any bracketing options. I could not work out why my a200 was really slow once, I had accidently set white balance bracketing.

i'm packing a SanDisk, compactFlash 1.0gb.... any good?
