I bought my 500d about 2 months ago and yesterday after taking a picture, the screen went a very light gray with light black lines across it. I could see my menu behind the gray changing as I altered the settings and it stayed as I went through pictures. Turned it off and back on and it went away but what do I do? The camera is from jessops. Should I phone them, say my camera screen messed up but it's not doing it now? not checked the warranty but guessing it's for a year.

Thanks, Adam

You still have 10 months on the warranty with canon. But you could take it to Jessops and see if you can recreate the problem Jessops should sort it out not tell you to send it to Canon but they will probably try that.

It may have just been a blip and work perfectly from now on and if you can't recreate the problem then Jessops may just say see how you go on.

I would still go to jessops and tell them just to cover that when you go in 2/3 months time with the same problem.

If this helps I have the 500d and have not had these issues at all.

Don't think it helps lol

ive had this issue once about 2 months ago . scared me alot as i dunno where id be without my camera .. didnt contact jessops just left it and well turned on and off and its worked perfect ever since.

Sounds like a temporary software glitch or maybe there was some static build up. I wouldn't worry too much as it is unlikely to be a mechanical fault and your pics will be on the memory card if something does go wrong. Mention it in store and see if they can provide an explanation
