the problem is it is a Yahoo site and to sign in they request a mobile phone nuimber. I don't have a mobile phone, so stuffed to join. What brainless idiot put a mobile phone number required to join? maybe it was a 2 year old

There is a number which you can enter as your mobile phone. If anyone phones this number they get a call blocking service which tells them the number they have dialed does not accept unsolicited calls (or words to that effect). I read this yesterday and I am desperately racking my brains trying to find where I read this. The number is something like 0330 88 88 88 88.

I am sure another member will help if I cannot locate this article.

I would be careful about using this number until we find the correct number. The correct number has a prerecorded message which effectively tells people not to call that number.

Although the number above is close (especially the 88 88 section) it is NOT the right number to use. I will keep looking and see if I can find the article. I want to make use of this feature as well.

can you, looks like you can skip the optional recovery number but seems like a mandatory field for new signups.
Ah sorry it might be that it prompts me for every time I signin and lows me to skip

It's Truecall38, designed for just this purpose: http://www.truecall38.co.uk/

Follow this link:-

It's on the Offcom webpage and is a list of ficticious numbers, that are real but have never been, and never will be, issued. They are use primarliy for TV, film and drama purposes when phone numbers are needed but obviously they don't want Joe Public ringing up and making a nuisance.

I use them all the time on forms that need a number but where I don't want them to ring me back.
