Hi all

I'm not sure if this is the correct place for this post or not, so I won't mention any names as yet

I recently ordered a couple of lightstands from an Ebay business seller, only one has arrived and the seller doesn't give two hoots, now it's not a lot of money and of course I'm going through the proper channels but thought I would give the heads up on the seller so nobody else falls for this idiots lies about being a good ebayer.

If I'm not allowed to post the seller id then fair enough, if someone can let me know please.

It's not a lot of money but it really narks me off! Grrrrrrrrr

Absolutely post it, that kind of information is important for all to know. Having had problems with sellers before, my advice (if you need it) is to keep all email communication safe including all headers as eBay will want to see them as part of your claim.

p.s. The thread will probably get moved to the shopping forum.

As Steep says above, keep all communication, also name and shame as a warning to others. Alan.

Ok, this is the guy in question.
His ebay name is Audipartner1.

His response to my email telling him he'd only sent me one stand when I ordered two was "tough"

It's only eleven quid but I'm still fuming!

noted,
thanks
open case with ebay, hope all goes well

'tough' ?
What a complete ******!
I would also state this in negative feedback if you decide to leave it and also send a copy of his reply to paypal and ebay.

I will stick his name on another site i use,67,000 members.:)

Yet he is 99.9 rating.

His feedback doesn't give the impression that he's dishonest, or that he'd answer a message in that way. Might be an idea to wait on the eBay resolution before trashing the guy all over the net.

with the response that he's already given, I wouldn't bother waiting on the response from ebay, I'd still make sure everyone knew about it.

His feedback score was why I used this particular seller, there are loads of people selling these stands for similar prices. However, this has been his attitude straight away, I sent him a message to let him know that the box was empty when it arrived, and as far as he's concerned it's not his problem. I can't leave negative feedback, ebay won't let me for 7 days apparently. I don't expect him to be out of pocket all I ask is he contact his courier and get them to look into it, they will refund him the cost of the missing item, and then he can send me another, but he obviously doesn't care.

I have submitted a claim through paypal and will see what happens.

He probably thinks you're trying to rip him off, but that's no excuse for a bad attitude. He should at least make enquiries for you. What courier was it? if they have a local depot it might be worth your while contacting them to see if the stand has been put aside.

Can't understand his attitude. Ordered a Dangermouse mug for my brother, it came in many bits. Contacted the seller and was offer replacement or refund, asked for a replacement and suggested packaging could be improved. A few days later a replacement mug arrived and the packaging was much better.

His attitude is "you signed for it, tough" problem is I didn't sign for it, someone else did while I was out at work. He states in his advertisement that all parcels are professionally packaged and he goes on and on about his professional approach, if there are any issues please get in touch and he will sort them out before going through the ebay procedures etc, well I tried that already by sending him a polite message and all I got was a nasty reply saying he'd sent loads out and never had a complaint, and its my fault because I signed for it (arrgghhhh, I told him already I didnt sign for it)

Anyway, he sent another message to ring him, forseeing a lengthy argument I have politely declined and told him I would like to carry out all communication via email, at which he sent another nasty message saying he won't do anything, again its my fault for signing (he obviously doesn't understand, I DIDNT SIGN ANYTHING :bang:)

His "professional" packaging consists of sellotaping two boxes together down the long side, he didn't even seal the ends of the boxes, which I suspect is why the stand is missing.

Anyway, I have to wait for twenty days before I can escalate the "case" with paypal, and 7 days before I can post negative feedback on ebay. He won't even send me a shipping reference so I can phone up the courier myself, and there doesn't appear to be anything on the slip that came for me to use as a reference either.

Even though it's not a lot of money it's really winding me up. I feel powerless to do anything about it. Really annoyed.

If the person who signed did not check or did not know to check the package that's between you and them but someone signed for delivery and that's all the seller can see. From his point of view you accepted the delivery as complete.

Even though you don't have a reference I reckon it's still worth while contacting the courier, what if it's lying in the local depot?

How many people check all the contents before signing for a relatively cheap product
Know I don't and sure many others are the same

Did read on another forum of someone who bought a camera and when the box was opened, just contained a large bag of rice (presumably to give th impression of correct weight)
Don't think that was ever resolved, but might have fell for that myself. Postie knocks with well packaged box, sign the form quick to stop all the cold air getting in the house and hey presto you are shafted.

The signed for thing doesn't stand up in consumer law, I've checked. (it is part of my job afterall, I have to sign for parcels everyday)

The postie will not stand around while a package is opened and checked. He won't leave the parcel without the signature.

Non of the comments however justify the sellers nasty couldn't care less attitude, even if he is guarding against possible scamming, he should check with his courier and get back to me with a proper helpful attitude at the very least. To just say "tough, you signed for it" just goes to show this idiot is one to avoid which is why I gave the heads up, Steep I take it if you were in the market for something this guy sold you'd not hesitate, now you've read this post? You honestly think how he has treated me, his customer, is correct? I think not. I've just sold a bag through this forum, I sent it 1st class recorded/signed for. If it hadn't arrived I would be on the phone straight away trying to locate it for my customer, if nothing else for my own piece of mind so I could sleep at night having done the right thing. I'm sorry but this sellers attitude is totally unexcuseable.

Chaz my girlfriend signed for it, dog barking behind her, baby under one arm, blizzard blowing, in her dressing gown. Postie apparently was gruff and wouldn't wait, he practically ran off after signing by all accounts. She feels terrible and guilty despite me telling her it's not her fault, she's really gutted. It's not the money that bothers me, it's only £11 or so, but the principle has really really annoyed me.

And breath...

Phew, I almost ordered lightstands from him, but then found them on Amazon cheaper. Unfortunately, I see they've gone up in price now.

The seller is at fault as he does not seem to have packaged the good well enough. But that does not mean you will get your money back.

He's probably saving himself the hassle of having to chase the courier and put in a claim etc

We had really bad packaged cd's cover sent once half were broken and the quality was poor if i learnt one thing is be careful on ebay or market place or whatever if it's cheap probably be cheap quality too or be badly packaged as they just shifting boxes.

Hi Nadeem,

Yeah, I guess I was hoping the world wasn't as bad as I thought and that some ebayers had morals, I guess not! I'll only be bidding on private sellers auctions in future, and not these fly by night con merchants (yeah I know they all aren't that bad...)

I have opened a case on paypal/ebay but can't escalate that just yet. I will also be trying the couriers local depot when I get home, they have told me they ought to be able to track it with the information on the label. They have confirmed that someone else signing for the parcel has nothing to do with it, and that this is the sellers responsibility to sort out, unfortunately that information won't help me. Hopefully the van driver found the missing stand and has handed it in.

The whole point of the order was that they were cheap. I wanted to try something with them and didn't want to splash out on expensive stands until I knew the idea worked. Oh well...
