problem...pc cant find camera

need help with this,just connected my E-500 for the first time & installed oly software onto my pc but it cant detect it.
iv checked my usb in device manager says all working what can i do ?
thanks for any help
 
Sorry to ask such a silly question - is the camera definately turned on when you plug it into the usb cable?

Also - if it is turned on, does anything appear on your LCD screen? I know the Fuji's at work a menu appears where you have to select PC connection before the PC will pick them up.

Some cameras switch to USB mode as soon as you connect them but others have to be set to 'PC mode' in the camera menu so it's worth checking that. Also try another usb slot just in case.

Agree with above - ensure cam switched on, and in proper mode.

Also try the following ...

If connecting through a usb hub, try connecting directly to usb port on the computer.

Uninstall software, attach cam - see if anything detected, then reinstall software.

Check all connections and try another usb lead if nothing.

Plug in the cable, turn the camera on and check the settings on the screen.

Thats how my E500 works anyhow.
have a read through the manual.

EDIT:

Just read through it.

Start the software in admin account. Plug in the cable, turn the camera on and select the storage setting on the screen.
