Problem mounting Yongnuo RF-602 trigger & SB-800 on cold shoe & softbox

I have a FITP softbox and am using a Yongnuo RF-602 trigger to fire my SB-800, the problem comes when mounting the trigger to the bracket with the coldshoe, the trigger is hitting the bracket and the flash isn't going far enough into the softbox. Anyone any ideas, Can I attach a cable from the RF-602 to the SB-800 to trigger it? pic below is of current set-up. sorry for the poor pic..

Simply mount the RF602 so that it faces away from the softbox and turn the head of the flash through 180 degrees - problem solved :D
 
Swivel the head 90degrees so that the menu is to the side. Then adjust the coldshoe as well.You will be able to slide the flash head further into the softbox as well
 
Should the flash head go into the softbox or is it ok to sit level.. Also should I use the diffuser or not?
 
If the soft box is double diffused then no you dont need the stoffen style defuser. What I mean by that is if you have the front white material then a 2nd bit a white material then the flash the extra defuser isn't needed but doesn't hurt.

I would make sure the flash head is in side the softbox to avoid as much light leaking out as possible.

Lastly you might want to modify your RF602's as I have by removing the lug on the shoe mount will post a picture.

Unfortunately, some flashguns come with an angled 'body', (like most Canons), and this means that turned through 90 degrees the head is not firing straight into the box.

The solution is to use a flash that has a external firing port, such as a pc socket.

I mostly use mine with an elicnchrom head via a speedring nowadays.

BTW, anybody else get a very pronounced magenta cast off this box? I do.

Does anyone know if you can buy a sync cable to link the RF-602 to the flash and then Velcro the receiver to the flash or hang it round the light stand?
 
Cheers, the RF-602 set I got from you came with a cable, will that work? or do I need the one above? using with a SB-800

You can just turn it through 180. Makes the controls hard to get at though.

Isn't it regular 1/4in Whit, from a fastenings supplier?

Impossible to get at, I would say.
 
I have been using it turned through 90deg, but The flash head sits slighty too far out of the softbox.
