Ok, admittedly I had never done this before but I watched a few you tube videos before I tried this. Went and bought a new roll of film and loaded it as instructed. All went well. Cartridge back in and then wind on until you see number one in the window and the film stops. it never stopped. Straight onto the exposed spool. Wasted film. I have another back here but am reluctant to try incase it is a problem with me and not the back. Any ideas?

It's a 500c/m

Thanks in advance. :)

Ok, a quick google and I have the problem. The spring in the magazine thing is not under spring tension. It just flops in and out. It's going to need stripping down to fix it. The other back seems to work ok. Well, that was a costly lesson (roll of film)

Well, if you ever happen to wind all the way through a roll of film again, you could try unloading the film from the back in a dark room/bag and then re-rolling it back to the beginning. As long as it's not exposed to light, you should still be able to use it.

Is it possible to stick the unexposed but wound-on film back in and run it through again, if necessary with the lens cap on? After that it should be back at the start again....

Thanks for the tips. If it wasn't in the bin, I would try it.

Film n00b! :(

Fish it out of the bin and use it in future to check all your MF cameras and backs. I've got a roll of AgfaPan and a roll of 35mm that I keep just for testing cameras, it saves a lot of heartache and expense
