Anyone got any advice on which is (are) the best magazine(s) for a newbie pro to subscribe too ?

professional photographer. Always seems like the most pertinent to me.

All of them if you are like me and read them in an evening and still want more :-)

Firstly I'm not a pro but I found that I got bored of the seeing the same basic articles month on month, e.g. take fantasic landscapes - use a polarising filter and or a ND grad and make sure you include some foregrount interest etc.

I started to get Professional Photographer and Digital Photo Pro (which I now subscribe to) as the articles were far more interesting. Both include some awe inspiring portfolios as well as some basic business tips and ideas along with workflow tips and hints. They both also include the standard product tests usually of the more expensive kit as well as stuff with pretty extreme kit e.g. this month Professional Photographer has an article on a fashion shoot taken with the specialist Fuji IS Pro (infrared and UV sensitive digital SLR)

I get Digital Photographer on subscription. A good mix of articles, plus some great photoshop type tutorials

Like most magazines it can be hard to fill the pages month after month but Professional Photographer and Digital Photo Pro is one of the better mags. It all depends what ytou want to get out of your read. If you want to improve your photography and get advice/help etc tit's pretty easy to get it online from forum's such as this but if perhaps you want a bit more then maybe a mag is a good idea. If you really like it you can always subscribe later and get a nice free gift. There are only so many times you can read about the basics though that is why I tend to avoid some of the more beginner's mags but that's just me.

British Journal of Photography...and it's weekly!

If you like artsy stuff and are willing to pay, Blind Spot and Aperture are nice...

I think they all have something of interest occasionally, but seem to cover the whole circuit more than once in a calendar year.

I've decided I'll go into WHSmith and if there's one that catches my eye and has something that interests me then I'll buy it

You might also like to take a look at outdoor photography.

Must admit Outdoor Photography is one of my faves, as covers wildlife quite a lot. Also like the layout.
