Hi all, I'm relatively new here.

So firstly hi!!

Secondly, I'm just starting to get into photography. Currently I have a Fuji s9600 bridge camera, which has served my purpose very well, but i now want to get a lot better.

My dad has given me his old film camera and lenses, a Canon EOS 10QD, a EF 28-80mm ultrasonic lens and a EF 100-300mm ultrasonic lens, all conon obviously.

I want to buy a 30D, and i'm told that these lenses will work on it. But I think the lenses need a good clean, more than just a kit and spray job!

Does anyone know where I can send them to get them stripped and properly, professionally cleaned? And any idea of costs?

Thanks guys

labour will be expensive and may be cheaper to buy new.

if the front and rear elements are ok, you can clean them yourself with lens cleaning fluid.

if there is fungus inside, it will need professional repair.

(I have a 30D for sale)

Hi andrew,

can you please explain about the Front and rear elements? are these the first and last lenses?

on the 28-80mm i can see a spot underneath the outer lens! and there looks to be a very small bit of something right inside the 100mm lens!

So you think buying new lenses could be cheaper!! not what i wnted to hear!:bang:

I have just finished reading your PM thanks, I'll send another in a min!

the front and rear elements are the extreme outer lenses which are the ones most likely to attact dirt and fingerprints.

Dust can get inside, but in many cases, you'll never actually be able to detect this dust on any of your pictures.

Andrew
