Pro/am

I take photos, I sell them and get paid for doing most of my games now.

I would say I am semi pro as I have a second job although I hope to get to a stage where I can be doing the photograohy full time.

The main thing is I enjoy taking photos weather paid or not, it's always fun and if it wasn't I would not do it anymore.

often on their first wedding and doing it for pocket money with inadequate training/ preparation.
Sadly the cases I'm thinking of were "full timers" yet just being incredibly lazy and sloppy. The re-shoot case was hopefully his last wedding, but he's still in business.
i'm an amateur i have never sold a picture in my life. does it matter? not one jot. i enjoy my photography as an am and love my photos to get a bit of praise now and again. :)
It probably 'does' matter that you have not sold a picture. As that could take the fun right out of it. I think amateurs are the lucky ones. No deadlines. If something is mundane you can skip it. You can buy a nice piece of kit without having to find a financial benefit reason to buy it.

...
Oddly I can only recall one occasion where the 'photographer' was at all serious, although no evidence he was full time, and most of the complaint surrounded the video he provided, and as I recall it was video and pictures for about £1200 which although it was overpriced for the result, is actually a pittance for so much work.

But again, pro / am, full time / part time, qualified / unqualified on it's own is an indication of 9/10 of 4/5 of b****r all, to paraphrase a mate.

i meant does it matter to me! i have a full time job as a truck driver which pays quite well so i'm happy if i wanted an income from my photography i would have to work hard at it and i do not have the time so i'll stick with am......(at least for now ;))

Nice clarification.

And then there are professional photographers who are not good at their job. You may have seen it too. Like awful wedding pictures from full time professionals. And I mean really bad where the couple needed a re-shoot.

Yeah, I agree with you.

Now what is more interesting is how much does a pro earn each year? In most cases I suspect it is not a great income? :)
You'd be wrong there then! two days a week nets me over £30k! I consider that my passive income, thats without selling Landscape and Fine Art prints , which is where i enjoy my work most. It's about where you put yourself in the market, and no i don't shoot weddings.

Nice one. :). I don't mind being wrong. But I suspect I am correct for a majority? :)
