I have done my first panoramic with a diy bracket I made over the weekend.
My question is if I cut a lenth of paper from a roll, if I enter the dimensions into photoshop as a custom size will the printer pull the paper through ok and use the whole lenth of the cut sheet.
My printer is the Epson Pro 3800, any help would be much appreciated.
Sorry if this has been asked and answered before.

You'll need to set up a custom paper size for the printer, so it knows what size paper it's handling. You can do this within the printer's printer dialogue box, under page setup.

Thanks John for reply. I understand about entering the custom sizes in the print driver ok. The problem is I don't want to go shopping for a roll of paper and the printer will not pull through or use the full lenth of paper.

Thank you to both John's for replies.
It's the Pro 4800 that has a roll paper feed. I've just been into the settings for the print driver and the maximum length of paper it will allow to be set is 950 mm. So I suppose that answers my question, a bit shorter than I would have liked but at least it's the length of two A3's plus a bit.

i can do, and have done 44x12 inch on my epson 1400.................but i also have 2 large format hp design jets for bigger

Have a look at the Qimage link, that is supposed to give a method of overcoming the printers max. length.

can do any length i want on my epson r1800 with no problems

Qimage claims to let you over come printers length restrictions
http://www.ddisoftware.com/qimage/qimagehlp/lbe.htm#6a
Not used this method myself, but Qimage has a free trial download, so might be worth a try.

Be warned Qimage has an interface all of its own !

Thanks for the link John. My printer does not support roll paper or banners so the software will not work with my print driver.

Note that this example only applies to print drivers that have a "roll" or "banner" option for the paper feed. If your print driver does not have either of these options, it will not be possible to overcome your printer's page length limitation without cutting/pasting two pages together as would be done in example 6.
