Hi all,

I've a client who has decided they want their photos printed, but in the same style as a polaroid.

It's not something I've ever heard of but it's an interesting idea.

I have suggest just printing onto paper and cutting to look like a polaroid but that's not what they want.

they want it to look and feel like it's come from a polaroid camera.

Any ideas on places that do this?

Cheap dyesub printer like the canon pixma ones can do white bordered prints. Would look reasonably polaroidy but I remember polaroids being very thin feeling prints.

Photobox is using quite thin feeling paper these days so white bordered prints with a polaroid PP effect might do?

Grab a polaroid camera, some impossible whatever it is called film and take photos of their prints! ;)

I am not sure there is any way other tha this to really replicate the polaroid look/feel.

is the back of a polaroid not black though? so you'd have to print on the back too

First thing I suggested was using photos with borders to look like polaroid's but "she's a perfectionist" and wouldn't be happy with that. I could have a play and try and fold the paper over for borders and glue it.

Yes they are, however I don't think she minds that as they'll be going in books etc.

This was the only idea I've been able to come up and possible the only solution. Very surprised that there isn't another way of doing this.

Already have a polaroid although the impossible film was 8 sheets for £20 :S Some cheaper stuff about so will have to have a google.

Thanks for all the help everyone :D

EDIT: actually, I've just come up with an idea that might work. i'll have a play :D

Just tell her you waved them arround as well for the genuine poloroid experiance.

Just did this with an App on my mac:

The effects vary and it's an easy way of doing it if you're not sorted yet

After reading this a while ago, in a local photography shop, I saw this digital polaroid camera today, and the guy in the shop took a quick snap and printed a photo out for me. You can print the photo out straight away aswell as saving a copy onto the SD card. Soooo im not sure if you could insert another SD card into it and print out the photos onto polaroid paper (guessing they couldnt be massive files), not sure its the kinda thing you'd be looking at but I thought I'd mention it as a possibility.

the picture comes out already dry and you can see it as it comes out so not quite the same as the original polaroids, but from looking straight on, would look just like an original polaroid....

hope it helps :D
